diy shelving

Hello! Well it's Thursday and my shelves are up! This has been quite an exciting project to work on and it was not too difficult for me to figure out on my own.....I actually think my hubby is a bit jealous that he didn't get to help me on this one.

My inspiration for these shelves came from The Brick House and I posted all about it HERE. I blended two inspiration photos together and came up with a shelving unit that is perfect for our living room space. I honestly could not be happier with it!

Here's a quick run down:
I went to the hardware store and was able to pick everything up in one haul....I ended up using pine shelving boards, metal brackets and wall braces. I stained the pine to the colour I was looking for and spray painted all the metal flat black. Here's the end result...

I'm just so happy with the final result. Sometimes when I work on diy projects, they turn out not quite as nice as I thought they would. But these shelves turned out way better than I could have hoped! There's a few more things that need to be tweaked...we're going to add the TV on a wall mount (I'm definitely going to wait for Phil to help me with that one!) and adding a few more of my favourite things. I'm so excited to have a large space to showcase some of my favourite things and switch them around from season to season (or when my mood changes which may be more often than with the seasons!).

Hope you enjoy the rest of your Thursday and the upcoming weekend!

  2. I've been a long-time lurker and it's high time I commented. :) These shelves look great! I've long admired the shelves at The Brick House, but haven't found a place for anything like them at my house (yet). I love the whole look of your living room -- what great style you have.
